Day 340.

Highly influenced by menswear. And by that I mean men who are on safari wear. This is the neutral based, tourism like, get up I rocked on Saturday. Complete with pleated front pants and puffy sleeves. By the end of the day I realized I looked much like a girl scout troop leader, and therefor want to watch Troop Beverly Hills. Either way, a summer like, crisp men's look is always fun, and I can't get enough of these pants.

Day 339.

Double dipped an outfit yesterday since I'm a few days behind. Wore this outfit last weekend to work, but instead of the cardi I wore a blazer in order to follow dress code.
I've been wanting a pair of steeple booties like these, since about forever. But knowing me, I couldn't commit to a seventy dollar Steve Madden pair or a 120 dollar Dolce Vita pair either. Luckily I waited out the fall and found these Wanted Steeple Booties for only $29.99 on Piperlime, then knocked off a few more bucks with a 20% coupon. Score! Maybe I shouldn't have bit the first deal I found, because these things are INSANELY difficult to put on. They have no zipper, and even though they fit great once on, it takes me a solid 20 minutes, if I make it that long, to get these suckers over my heels. Guess that's the price of fashion. I'll continue to sacrifice because I love the way they look, and they're comfortable.

Day 338.

They're tough to see, (Andrew's hand was slightly in the way), but these brown boots are my go to running around shoes. I love boots because I feel like you can wear a pretty casual outfit, but still look somewhat put together. It may be the confidence that comes along with being three inches taller.
I'm also a sucker for a comfy, flowy t-shirt. I just found this dusty rose one at the Gap and it beholds all of my favorites in a top. V-neck, check, flowy but flattering, check, rounded bottom, check and an extra bonus there are actually pleats in the back. AWESOME. And bonus points for it having been on sale.
Remember when pale pinks really made their entrance a couple years back? Well, that was one of those trends I never got over! I'm still a sucker for soft hues of pink and beige. And I still have an Express dress with tags on it I bought when dusty rose really made its' entrance.
Side Note: I am unintentionally a walking Gap Inc ad, I guess I've been taking too much advantage over my discount.

In Between

Just taking a minute to reflect, in my 2 minutes of down time. Slightly behind on my outfits; managing an even crazier schedule than usual this week, and didn't have time to get a shot when it was still daylight. I will definitely have to play dress up tomorrow with this weeks clothes. Not sure how I got so far behind schedule today, I thought it was going to be an overachieving day when I wrote a five page paper before 930 this morning. My time management took a turn for the worst, and here I am frustrated with myself for slacking, but did I really? Where does all the time go every day?

Day 337.

While getting dressed yesterday morning I had this picture of my mom and all her siblings in mind. I didn't realize until later in the day, when I saw the picture that I didn't really channel their outfits much at all! Aside from the bell bottoms, I look much more ready to hit the yacht, than to be in a family photo Brady Bunch style. Hmm, if only we had a yacht.

The perfect combination navy with a pop of red! Along with some bracelets, including this really great one I found at the Melrose Trading post made from the spine of an old book.

Handbag Heaven

Went to our local TJMaxx last week, and since it's not exactly local (25 minutes away) I don't make it there very often. It had been quite some time since my last visit, and I was surprised to see how many designer handbags were flooding their shelves. Much more than ever before. I daydreamed about loading all my junk into a luxurious leather bag, but couldn't bring myself to commit to such a big, for me, buy. So for the past few days I've been dreaming about a new handbag, but will hold out until I find the budget friendly counterpart I'm in love with. I've noticed I'm enchanted mostly by crossbody bags, and big satchels; the most conventional of bags for running from one place to the next.

Day 336.

I think this outfit was subconsciously inspired by the edgy boho-chic styles we see at Coachella. It was meant to be worn without the jacket, because the tank top helps give off a much more summer time vibe. The weather has been slightly unpredictable, the jacket became a necessity.

Day 335.

Since basically the beginning of clothing, animal prints, or way back then, animal furs, were considered a symbol of power. You would really only see the prints on kings or other rulers, until finally around the 60s women began adding it to their wardrobes as well. To show they too were powerful, or maybe just a little wild. This week I've been in 100% go-mode; I'm getting close to the end of the semester, I have all kinds of projects to do, lots of homework to catch up on, and a small clothing line to produce. (details soon) This week I've channeled every last bit of my energy into checking things off my to do list. Yesterday I felt accomplished, even a little powerful perhaps, and looking back now, probably subconsciously wore this top to prove that.

Day 334.

Went a little crazy today and decided to rock denim on denim!! GASP! This used to be an absolute style no no, but more and more denim is making its' way into head to toe fashion. I'm easing into the idea, so I went with denims that are way different colors, as to not have them blend too much. Some bright neutrals helped make it pop and feel summer ready. How do you feel about denim on the top and bottom?

Day 333.

This Sunday I took full advantage of the opportunity to relax. Headed to LA with Andrew and Elise and we spent the day shopping at the flea market and wandering around. It was my first time at the Melrose Trading Post, and we ended up there accidentally. I'm so glad we did, because it was the perfect way to spend the day, moseying around discovering the crafts of creatives and the treasures of thrifters. I wore a casual Mexican art inspired outfit, focusing on my top and handmade purse, from Mexico.

Day 332.

Sunshine after the rain. I love fashion for a long list of reasons, but the greatest thing about it is, you have 100% freedom over your personal style. Fashion gives me the opportunity to dress like a punk rock boy two days in a row, then turn around and dress like a grandma chic girly girl the next. Personal style gives us the chance to express ourselves, our feelings, our passions, our likes through what we wear, on a daily basis. And our feelings, passions and likes may not always be the same, so why should our style?

Madewell Cardigan $28, Tresics Tee $6, Forever 21 Polka Dot Skirt $23, Forever 21 Oxfords $12, WetSeal Bead Necklace $8, PacSun Bead Necklace $9

Day 331.

Continuing my slightly punk phase for the second day in a row, here I present you some leather, some boots and a little boys Toy Story graphic tee. Interesting mix to say the least, but I got some very surprising outfit admiration from an older woman at Trader Joe's. Surprising person to love my outfit, because her generation would  have been more likely to say I look like a hoodlum. Hope you all had a great weekend. More soon!

Day 330.

Simple & clean-cut with a little edge. Very masculine, a little punk rocker; the wayfarers and leather jacket play well off each other. Leopard shoes and cinched top so you know I'm still a girl.

Day 329.

The weather is finally starting to feel like Spring, well actually more like Summer. So I did my best to turn a totally fall top into one of my latest go-tos for this season. It was tough for me to find a top to go under this chiffon cardigan, because I would normally go with black no questions. Once I discovered that this green top was basically the only thing that matched at all, I realized it was a pretty great pair! I felt ready to go roll around in the grass, instead I enjoyed some nice pho soup for lunch with my sister.

 yummmmmy!

Day 328.

I've been daydreaming about wearing these pants for a while, and it finally felt right to stray from the obvious, wearing only black with them, and do something a little different. I think this look works because the top is very simple, but it and the shoes are very cohesive, even though they don't necessarily match the black and white print pants. I think these shoes look pretty perfect with the pants; the pointed toe making my legs look longer.

Day 328.
Banana Republic Heritage Sweater $, H&M Print Pants $15, Dolce Vita Nude Pumps $28, Bracelets 31 Bits $14, H&M $5, Gifts

Go check out the 31 Bits website. They have a great story. All of their jewelry is handmade paper beading completely designed and created by women in Uganda. I'm already obsessed with everything!
