Hi there! I'm Kirby!

Welcome to my blog! This is a daily dose of fashionable things from my personal style and good eats to beauty products and things to do!

My Pregnancy Skincare Routine.

My Pregnancy Skincare Routine.

First off, very obvious disclaimer, that I am not an esthetician or dermatologist or any sort of skincare expert. Just putting together a breakdown of products that I love, and have fallen in love with to make up my easy skincare routine over the first seven months of my pregnancy.

Based on insights for what is and isn’t safe during pregnancy, all of these products are essentially safe for your skin while you’re pregnant, but it is always best to consult your doctor before using or switching to a new product to assure both you and your growing baby are safe.

Step 1: Cleansing

The Caudalie Purifying Gel Cleanser is my regular everyday cleanser. I like it because it is gentle on my skin, while still leaving me feeling clean and bonus, has a super affordable price point at $28 a bottle. I like to use the Kate Somerville Cold Cream Moisturizing Cleanser every few days or as a first step on days when I have a fuller face of makeup and will then follow with my regular cleanser. I feel the creaminess of the product helps to better remove makeup and dirt.

Step 2: Serums

These three products are probably the most coveted gals in my skincare lineup. I don’t use all three of them twice a day, but a minimum of one of these products is used every single day. I use The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid every night after cleansing before my moisturizer 99% of the time. Between the other serums I typically use Sunday Riley’s C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C Oil every morning after cleansing, but especially on no make up days, when I’ll just be applying sunscreen and nothing else on my face.

The Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint is probably the beauty influencer’s favorite product (I mean, that’s how I was persuaded), but I’ve truly come to love this tinted serum. I like to use this on days when I’m going to be applying makeup whether full face or not, to give me a little coverage as well as taking the place of my sunscreen. This serum goes on feeling a little oily but usually absorbs into the skin within a few minutes leaving you light coverage and hydration. If I’m going to be applying more face makeup I try to put on the Ilia Tint about 10 minutes before to give it time to absorb.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 may just be too good to be true, but I’m trying not to jinx it as I’d love for this little bottle of $7 magic to stay on the market and at that wildly good price. This is honestly the only The Ordinary product I’ve used, and purchased it after reading all about the hydrating goodness of hyaluronic acid, and then extensive review on both The Ordinary’s products overall and this one in general. There was a pretty strong consensus that this is a great serum, especially give the price and after using it for about 4 months now I have to agree. I would say give it a try, and if you don’t like it, you’re only out $7.

Step 3: Moisturizing

I’ve been using the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet for about a year now, and for an everyday, anytime moisturizer I’m a big fan. It’s so lightweight on the skin and never leaves me feeling greasy. That is coming from someone with normal/dry skin so take from that what’d you like. I use this daily morning and night unless I’ve started my day with the Ilia Tinted Serum, in which I don’t usually add a moisturizer. Similarly, daily I use this Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant, layered over my regular moisturizer and serums. I love this as a daily facial sunscreen because once again it is not greasy at all, it’s lightweight, absorbs into the skin and leaves me confident feeling like my skin is protected without having me feeling like I need to wash my face three hours into the day. I was given this face protectant for a sponsored post years ago and have continued to keep it in my rotation because I love it so much. Slightly pricier with a $55 price tag, but sun protection is so important, especially in pregnancy, and a little goes a long way so I think it’s worth it.

Finishing Touches

This is probably one of the only times I ever went back and purchased a product after using a sample from a Sephora order. But after my trial size Biossance Eye Cream ran out I couldn’t bring myself to purchase any other. This Squalane + Marine Algae formula goes on lightweight and is so soothing around the eyes, and you barely need a touch to get full coverage on those bags and crows feet. I haven’t actively been tracking my dark circles, so it may be all in my head but I truly love this product. Like I said, got got from a sample.

And I’m still a tried and true fan of Mario Badescu’s Rosewater Spray, even though we didn’t cover makeup, I use this as a finishing spray on makeup ready days, as well as one of my #1 travel accessories for when you just feel like you need a hydration boost on a trip. The price is incredible, the smell, so good, you can’t go wrong having this in your bag!

I’ve felt pretty lucky for how my skin has treated me up to this point throughout my pregnancy (at least when it comes to my face, but that’s a topic for another time). While I’ve had small hormonal blemishes here and there, I’ve been lucky that my face and neck have responded well to all the changes of my body, but also feel I have these great products to thank. This post is entirely unsponsored, this is just my honest opinion of what I actually put on my face regularly, so whether you’re pregnant or not, and looking for some new skincare products to try I would absolutely recommend every last one of these.
