Hi there! I'm Kirby!

Welcome to my blog! This is a daily dose of fashionable things from my personal style and good eats to beauty products and things to do!

Time for Texture.

Time for Texture.

Hi friends, remember me?! Since the last time I shared on Fashion by Day, it seems as though I blinked and the end of summer was staring me right in the face. A couple weeks ago I was promoted at work and in the midst of navigating my new role I haven’t had a chance to really start thinking about my fall wardrobe.

We had a brief window of a couple days last week when the temperature began to drop just slightly, mainly in the morning, where I thought, okay, I’m ready to start dressing for next season. So far my autumn outfit planning has consisted of one random Goodwill haul, which included these vintage Lee trousers.

I feel what always gets me most excited for fall is bringing lots of texture back into the mix. Finally adding in some variety from cotton and linen, and bringing out all the chunky knits, plaids, velvets, leathers and suedes. This oversized menswear look (with a feminine touch) is great while temps are still slowly decreasing - the pieces still drape enough away from the body to not be too hot, while still starting to kiss beachwear goodbye.

I’ll be excited to repeat this outfit in a few weeks with a layered turtleneck and maybe an oversized duster. While I write this I’m preparing to head to a luau themed 30th birthday party, outside in the 80 degree heat. So looks like I’ll have to say aloha to beachwear just one more time. Hope your weekends keep you hot or cool, or whatever you hope for, later friends!
